Decent Flexibility, But Team Dependent

Working at Wise offers decent flexibility, especially for roles like Software Engineer in the London office. The hybrid model is good, but true work-life balance can still be a challenge on some project teams, and fully remote options are limited.


Pros

For many software engineering roles, the hybrid model in the London office is pretty good. I've appreciated the option to work from home a couple of days a week, which helps with personal stuff. They're generally solid about flexible hours if you need to shift your start or end time.


Cons

Some cross-border payments project teams have stricter onsite requirements, which makes real work-life balance tough. There isn't much room for fully remote work unless you're hired specifically for that type of fintech role. It feels like the "flexibility" sometimes comes with an unspoken expectation of just working longer hours anyway.


Advice to Management
