Leadership needs more consistent vision

It's a mixed bag here, honestly. Some days are good, some are really tough because of leadership decisions. I've seen better, I've seen worse.

Pros

Some managers are really supportive. You can learn a lot from senior engineers, especially in the advanced materials side of electronics manufacturing. The corporate environment itself offers decent stability.

Cons

Upper management often changes direction without much warning. It's tough to keep up when there's no clear communication from leadership on big company goals. This creates frustration for us doing onsite work as a Process Engineer.

Advice to Management

Focus on consistent communication and a clear strategic path. Empower middle managers more. That would help a lot.

Pay is okay, benefits could be better
Pros: The base salary for a Process Engineer is pretty decent, especially if you're early career. They do offer some 401k matching, which is a solid plus. For an onsite technical role in electronics manufacturing, it's not the worst.
Cons: The health insurance plans aren't great; high deductibles are a pain. Dental and vision benefits feel pretty basic compared to other global companies. Raises can be slow, especially in the Waterbury, CT office.
Advice to Management: Management should seriously re-evaluate the health insurance options. Better benefits would help attract and retain talent, especially for critical engineering roles within the chemical solutions sector.

Decent Balance for a Manufacturing Gig
Pros: For an onsite role in electronics manufacturing, the work-life balance is pretty decent. I typically worked 40-45 hour weeks as a Process Engineer. They're good about flexible start times which helps a lot with personal appointments.
Cons: Sometimes projects mean longer hours, especially close to deadlines. It's tough when you're dealing with chemical solutions processes and something breaks down late. You can't just leave during critical production issues.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage project deadlines to avoid last-minute crunch times for engineers on the floor.

Old School Culture, Solid Industry Experience
Pros: I've learned a ton about electronics manufacturing as a Process Engineer here. You get hands-on with chemical solutions for surface finishing. The teams on the ground are generally supportive, which is a big plus.
Cons: The overall company culture can feel pretty old-school, especially in the Waterbury, CT office. There's not much push for new ideas or adapting quickly. It's a very corporate setup, which can slow things down.
Advice to Management: Try to embrace newer ideas and give employees more say in process improvements. Focus on modernizing the approach to semiconductor materials development to stay competitive.
