Responsibilities

  • Oversee the farm biosecurity, animal health, and welfares of pigs in all contract growing farms.
  • Develop and implement disease prevention, vaccination, medication, and treatment programs.
  • Conduct regular farm visits to physically audit the farm biosecurity, animal health, and welfare to ensure continuity of the business operations.
  • Diagnoses disease or any abnormal conditions through physical, behavioral observation, and diagnostics results as basis for proper treatment.
  • Performs an epidemiological evaluation of disease outbreak, disease movement, and seasonality of disease to establish preventive measures applicable to each farm.
  • In case disease outbreaks; investigate and implement immediate control and containment measures.
  • Lead surveillance, sampling, reporting, and compliance with Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) requirements for ASF and other diseases as necessary.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to Production Officers, farm personnel, and contract growers on animal health and best management practices.
  • Ensure proper use and inventory of veterinary medicines, vaccines.
  • Maintain accurate veterinary, treatment, and production records and prepare regular health and performance reports.
  • Coordinate with laboratories, government agencies, suppliers, and other stakeholders regarding animal health concerns.
  • Support operational decision affecting farm productivity, pig welfare, and profitability.
  • Monitors the mortality and morbidity rate of all farms being supervised and collects data of established facts.

Qualifications

  • A graduate of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with a valid PRC Veterinary License.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in commercial swine production, preferably in contract-growing operations.
  • Strong knowledge of swine diseases, biosecurity, production management, and ASF prevention.
  • Has a valid Driver’s license and is knowledgeable in driving a 4-wheel vehicle.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Above average: reading comprehension, writing, speaking, and presentation skills; must have the ability to generate concise and effective reports.
  • Must be able to understand and explain the basic financial ratios (e.g. Return of Investments, Internal Rate of Return, etc.); must know how to prepare and analyze cost benefit analysis and feasibility studies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Must be a critical thinker and has the ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems or other business-related issues.
  • Must have strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills and can interact with employees, customers, and colleagues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to supervise and manage tasks and personnel to achieve company objectives. Must have the ability to discipline subordinates that go against company rules, work ethics, and values.
  • Superior time management by managing ones' own time and the time of others.
  • Must be a competent driver with a valid driver's license and is accredited by the company.
  • Must be able to act ethically and honestly, with fairness and without consideration for personal gain in dealing with buyers, customers, and fellow team members.
  • Uphold company's values and complies with the company code of ethics.
