Database Engineer architects, develops, implements and manages complex databases supporting business needs on a global basis. The incumbent operates independently on most assignments, under general guidelines and objectives.
Job Responsibilities:
Works and partners with Program Developers, Agile Program Manager (APM) and Digital Product Managers (DPM), developing, deploying and maintaining database solutions utilizing various database technologies.
Performs database object development and promotion to support program initiatives.
Performs regular performance monitoring and analysis.
Completes database scripting and or programming tasks using various languages.
Responsible for database backups and restores along with masking of NPI data. Ensures database security
Captures system specifications and translates them into database artifacts. These typically include design specifications, source code DML DDL development and utilization of extended RDBMS product features.
Collaborates with senior database peers and programs to ensure standards are kept in accordance with database architecture principles and modeling best practices.
Maintains schema design utilizing data models and standardized scripting methods. Builds database objects derived from modeling. Programs objects such as procedures, functions, and triggers to meet application objectives and application performance.
Collaborates with developers and end users to ensure that all database DDL, DML is tested adequately. Communicates any identified issues to developers and senior database engineers. Works with ATS to resolve related tasks.
Tracks and communicates issues to senior peers and APM/DPM for assistance with resolution.
Deploys methods to streamline existing processes
Documents new or existing processes.
