We are partnering with a leading international construction and engineering business to appoint an experienced Senior Project Manager to support data centre construction projects in Malaysia. This individual will be responsible for leading the planning, coordination, and execution of mission-critical construction works, ensuring project delivery objectives across safety, quality, schedule, cost, and stakeholder management are achieved.
Working closely with project directors, commercial, design, construction, engineering, and client stakeholders, the Project Manager will play a key role in driving delivery performance, managing interfaces across CSA and MEP disciplines, and supporting the successful execution of current and future data centre developments.
Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day management of data centre construction projects or major workstreams from mobilisation through completion and handover
- Manage project scope, programme, quality, cost, and delivery performance in line with business and client expectations
- Coordinate internal and external stakeholders including consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, authorities, and client teams
- Drive project planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting activities to ensure milestones and key deliverables are achieved
- Review construction methodologies, sequencing, site logistics, and delivery strategies to support safe and efficient execution
- Oversee project controls, progress tracking, and issue resolution across CSA, MEP, and specialist trade interfaces
- Manage project documentation including RFIs, submittals, technical queries, change requests, and progress updates
- Support procurement, subcontractor engagement, and package coordination to maintain programme and delivery certainty
- Lead site meetings, coordination reviews, and project reporting with internal leadership and client stakeholders
- Ensure strong safety leadership and reinforce compliance with HSE, quality, and operational standards across the project team
- Identify project risks, drive mitigation plans, and support recovery actions where required
- Support commissioning readiness, testing, handover, closeout, and post-completion activities as required
- Participate in ad-hoc project and strategic initiatives as required
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related discipline
- 10-15 years of experience in construction project management within large-scale buildings, industrial, mission-critical, or data centre environments
- Proven experience managing the delivery of complex construction projects with significant MEP and stakeholder interface requirements
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, procurement, subcontractor coordination, project controls, and reporting
- Experience managing programme, cost, quality, risk, and change in a live project environment
- Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams across CSA, MEP, design, commercial, and client functions
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to interface confidently with clients and senior leadership
- Hands-on project leadership style with the ability to think on the spot, solve problems, and maintain delivery momentum
- Data centre or mission-critical project experience is strongly preferred; experience in pharma, hospital, airport, semiconductor, or advanced technology projects may also be relevant
- Based in Malaysia
