Role Description

The Science Mentor (Secondary School) is a full-time, on-site role based in Damansara Heights, Kuala Lumpur. The Science Mentor will plan and facilitate engaging Science lessons for secondary learners, using inquiry-based, project-based, and applied learning approaches. This role includes designing learning experiences that connect scientific concepts to real-world contexts, assessing learner progress through varied methods, and providing ongoing feedback and coaching.


The Science Mentor will collaborate with other educators to align curriculum, participate in staff meetings and professional development, and contribute to the overall learning culture of the academy. Day-to-day responsibilities also include maintaining a safe learning environment, communicating with families as needed, and supporting learners’ academic growth, confidence, and readiness for future pathways.


Qualifications

  • Strong subject-matter knowledge in Combined Science and General Science (KSSM & IGCSE curriculum) and the ability to connect concepts to real-world applications.
  • Skills in lesson planning, curriculum design, and use of inquiry-based or project-based learning in a secondary school context.
  • Effective classroom facilitation, learner-centered instruction, and ability to differentiate for diverse learning needs and paces.
  • Clear written and verbal communication in English and Malay, including the ability to give constructive feedback and coach learners on academic and personal growth.
  • Comfort with using edtech and digital learning tools to support teaching, learning, and assessment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science, or any related field; teaching qualification or relevant teaching experience with secondary learners is preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to personalized learning, student well-being, and inclusive, gender-neutral, and non-discriminatory classroom practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a small team, openness to feedback, and willingness to engage in ongoing professional development.
