Career growth is slow, but solid learning
This review is based on my experience as a Junior Process Engineer at bp. While there are definitely good learning opportunities, actual career growth feels pretty slow and can be frustrating.
You get good initial training here, especially as a Junior Process Engineer in the energy sector. There's a lot of technical knowledge to pick up, particularly if you're proactive in the Houston office. It's a good place to learn the ropes.
Career progression can feel really slow; getting promoted seems to take forever for engineering roles. It's a big corporate machine, so you often have to wait for someone to leave for an opening. They don't seem to focus much on individual career paths.
Focus more on clear promotion pathways for individual contributors. It would really help retain talent in critical oil and gas operations.
