Hybrid Model is Okay, Could Be Better

It's a decent place to work in the crypto space. The flexibility is there for some, but not for all roles.

Pros

I appreciate the option to work from home a couple of days a week as a Software Engineer. The hybrid model definitely helps with avoiding the daily commute in Singapore. It's a solid benefit for work-life balance.

Cons

But that flexibility isn't uniform across all teams or roles in this crypto exchange. Sometimes you feel pressured to be in the office more, especially for meetings. It can make planning personal stuff tough.

Advice to Management

Standardize the hybrid model and WFH policies across all departments. Clear guidelines would make a big difference.

Decent Culture for a Growing Fintech Startup
Pros: The team here is pretty solid, especially for a fintech startup. Everyone's generally helpful and the WFH setup in California actually works well. We often share crypto market insights.
Cons: Sometimes the culture can feel a bit fragmented being fully remote. It's hard to build deep connections organically. There's not much formal mentorship for junior software engineering roles.
Advice to Management: Try to encourage more team-building activities, even remote ones. Maybe dedicated virtual coffee breaks or more structured social events to foster connection.

Leadership has some strong points, but needs work.
Pros: Some senior managers are really good at explaining technical challenges. For a startup in the crypto industry, the core engineering teams are pretty smart. I've learned a lot as a Junior Software Engineer here, especially from my direct lead, which is a big plus.
Cons: Upper leadership can feel disconnected from the day-to-day operations. Decisions often feel arbitrary and there's not much clear communication about the overall company direction for remote employees. It's tough to get clear feedback or career path guidance from the higher-ups.
Advice to Management: Work on transparent communication channels, especially for teams working remotely. It would help if leadership provided clearer roadmaps and more structured opportunities for skill development and career progression.
