Leadership needs a serious look at Skyways
Working at Skyways Technics had its ups and downs. The day-to-day with my team was fine, but leadership from the top could be frustrating. It felt like they didn't really get what we were doing on the shop floor, which made things tougher than they needed to be in the aviation industry.
My direct team lead was usually pretty supportive, which helped a lot as an Aircraft Technician. There's a solid crew on the ground, making daily tasks doable. We got decent benefits for an onsite work role.
Upper management felt really disconnected from the daily grind in the Miami facility. There wasn't much clear direction for long-term career growth in this mid-sized MRO. Decisions often came down without much explanation, impacting line maintenance schedules.
Spend more time understanding the challenges faced by onsite technicians. Improve communication from corporate to the maintenance teams, especially regarding major operational changes or strategic direction for the aircraft MRO sector. Empower team leads more.
