It's a Grind, But There are Perks

Working at Klook as a Marketing Specialist in the Hong Kong office was pretty demanding. There's a lot expected, especially in the travel tech industry, but it wasn't all bad.

Pros

You get some decent benefits, like discounted travel experiences. The hybrid work model helps, letting me work remotely a couple days a week. It offers a bit of flexibility to manage personal stuff.

Cons

The workload for marketing roles can be insane. Expect late nights, especially when big campaigns for online booking are launching. Work-life balance here is tough; you're often tied to your laptop.

Advice to Management

Try to set clearer boundaries for after-hours work. Managers should encourage their teams to log off. It's important to prevent burnout in this fast-paced travel tech environment.

Leadership has its ups and downs at Klook
Pros: My immediate team leads were genuinely supportive and had solid technical skills, which was great for product roles. There's a decent attempt from senior management to share the overall vision for the online travel agency, especially for new initiatives. In the Singapore office, the vibe among peers is usually pretty good and collaborative.
Cons: The main issue is a real lack of consistent, clear strategic direction from upper leadership. Too many frequent reorgs meant constant shifts in priorities and team structures, which was tough as a Product Manager. Decision-making can feel slow and sometimes arbitrary, impacting project velocity in this fast-moving industry.
Advice to Management: Focus on providing more stable, long-term strategic direction. Reduce the frequency of large-scale reorgs so teams can actually build and execute effectively. Clearer communication on decisions would also help a lot.

Klook is good, but job security varies.
Pros: I've met some really smart people here, which is great for learning. The company culture in the Singapore office can be pretty vibrant and collaborative. You get to work on cool features for a global experience booking platform.
Cons: Job security isn't its strongest point, honestly. There have been rounds of layoffs, which always makes you a bit nervous as a Product Manager. The online travel industry can be quite volatile, and it shows here.
Advice to Management: Focus on long-term stability and transparent communication about company direction. This would really help with employee morale and reduce anxiety around job security.

Hybrid Model is Okay for Singapore Office
Pros: You get 2-3 WFH days a week with the hybrid model. It's good for managing personal appointments and avoiding the daily commute in Singapore. Teams generally understand when you need to switch things around for travel tech.
Cons: Some managers are stricter about WFH days than others. It's not always easy to get extra flexibility, especially if you're in a client-facing role. The official policy can feel a bit rigid sometimes.
Advice to Management: Try to standardize the work flexibility policies more. It would really help if managers had clearer guidelines on WFH and flexible hours for the entire online travel agency.
