Okay for market research, culture needs work

Mintel is a decent place to get your foot in the door with market research, but expect some challenges with internal dynamics and company culture.

Pros

The people I worked with as a Research Analyst were genuinely solid. It's a good spot for learning about consumer insights, and Mintel offers a pretty decent hybrid model which is a huge plus for work flexibility.

Cons

Internal communication is often tough to navigate. It feels like leadership changes direction frequently, which makes long-term planning hard. The overall company culture in the Chicago, IL office can sometimes feel disconnected between teams.

Advice to Management

Focus on creating clearer, more consistent communication channels across departments. Work on building a more unified company culture; it's tough when teams feel so siloed.

Culture is Decent, But Could Be Better
Pros: The people here are generally really nice. I've made some good friends, and as a Research Analyst, the team collaboration on market intelligence projects is solid. The hybrid work setup in the Chicago office is a huge plus for work-life balance.
Cons: Sometimes the company culture feels a bit cliquey. Leadership has a tough time communicating a consistent vision, which impacts morale. For early-career market research roles, career progression can feel pretty slow here.
Advice to Management: Work on making the leadership vision clearer across all teams. Also, creating more defined growth paths, especially for entry to mid-level market research professionals, would really help with retention.

Decent pay for market research, benefits are okay
Pros: The salary for a Research Analyst in London is pretty competitive, especially considering the current market. I feel fairly compensated for the work in consumer intelligence. They also offer some good discounts on various services.
Cons: The health insurance isn't amazing, with high deductibles that eat into your pay. There aren't many unique perks beyond the basic stuff; it's a very standard benefits package. I wish there was better retirement plan matching.
Advice to Management: Review the benefits package to make it more appealing, especially health insurance options and retirement contributions. It would really help with retention in this competitive market research space.
