Growth Can Be Slow for Engineers Here
I spent a good few years at Singtel as a Senior Network Engineer. The company is huge in the telecommunications industry, so there's a lot of stability. However, my main issue was career growth – it just wasn't happening fast enough for me.
You get solid exposure to core telecommunications infrastructure in the Singapore office. It's a stable job in a big corporate environment, good if you like sticking with one company for a while, especially for network engineer roles.
Career progression for technical roles can feel pretty slow here. There aren't many clear paths to advance, and getting promoted often takes a really long time. It's hard to move up if you're not in management.
Management should create more defined career paths for technical specialists. It would help a lot if there was better transparency on promotion criteria and timelines.
