Okay Work-Life Balance for Engineers at Flex
My time at Flex in the San Jose office has been pretty mixed regarding work-life balance. As a software engineer, there are periods where it's manageable, but then things get intense fast. It's an okay gig overall, but don't expect it to be easy all the time.
Working as a Software Engineer, the hybrid model often lets me manage personal appointments. There's some flexibility in daily start/end times if you communicate. It's not a crazy 60-hour week kind of place.
Project deadlines in manufacturing tech can really ramp up the pressure. Sometimes it feels like you're always on call for critical issues. You'll definitely work more than 40 hours when a big release is due.
Management should really try to set more realistic project timelines. Resource allocation also needs a closer look, especially for the San Jose office teams. It'd help a lot with burnout.
