Established corporate gig, but culture can be tough

I worked here for a few years as a Security Engineer. It's a stable job in the cybersecurity industry and I definitely learned a ton about network security. The pay was good, but the overall vibe and company culture just weren't for me. It felt very corporate and not super dynamic.

Pros

You get solid exposure to the cybersecurity industry. It's a stable company with decent benefits. For Security Engineer roles, the compensation package is pretty competitive.

Cons

The company culture feels pretty old school. There isn't much team enthusiasm, especially in the San Carlos office. It's an established corporate environment, but it can sometimes feel a bit stagnant and resistant to change.

Advice to Management

Try to inject more energy into the workplace. Fostering a more collaborative and innovative culture would really help retention.

Pay's Alright, Benefits Need a Refresh
Pros: The base salary for a Cybersecurity Analyst is decent, especially for someone starting out. Job security is good, and it's a stable company in the network security space. I've always had my check on time.
Cons: Compared to other big tech players, the compensation isn't top-tier. Benefits like healthcare are okay, but don't feel super modern or competitive in San Carlos, CA. There's not much negotiation room on salary, which is tough.
Advice to Management: Management should really look at market rates for compensation, especially for technical roles. Update the benefits package to compete with other big tech companies.

Work-Life Balance Can Be a Struggle Here
Pros: The team you work with is generally pretty solid. You can definitely learn a lot about cybersecurity here, which is great for career development. It's a big tech company, so there are resources.
Cons: For Technical Support Engineer roles, the hours are often long. On-call rotations can really mess up your personal time. Finding good work-life balance in the San Carlos office is tough.
Advice to Management: Management needs to address staffing issues, especially in support. Set more realistic expectations for employee availability and empower teams to manage their workload better to prevent burnout.

Pay is Solid, Benefits Could Be Better
Pros: As a Software Engineer, my base salary was pretty competitive for the cybersecurity industry in the San Carlos, CA office. The medical benefits are actually quite good, which is a big plus.
Cons: The bonus structure isn't very generous compared to other big tech firms. Also, the 401k match is just okay, and annual raises don't really keep pace with inflation for many roles.
Advice to Management: Look into making the bonus structure more rewarding and consider boosting the 401k match to compete better with other companies in the big tech space.
