The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a core member of the Wealth Executive Leadership Team, accountable for the end-to-end operating model, execution discipline, and operational resilience of the business.

Role Purpose

The COO is responsible for ensuring that the Wealth business operates with scale, control, and premium service quality in a highly regulated, capital-intensive environment.

The role focuses exclusively on operations, governance, and execution, partnering closely with the CEO and senior leaders to deliver strong client outcomes, regulatory readiness, and sustainable business performance.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead end-to-end operations across Wealth businesses, including underwriting, onboarding, policy administration, servicing, and operational governance.
  • Design and continuously improve a scalable operating model aligned to bespoke HNW client needs and Bermuda regulatory requirements.
  • Drive operational excellence through performance management, process optimisation, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure strong first line of defence controls, operational risk management, and audit readiness.
  • Partner with Finance, Risk, Legal, and Compliance to ensure operations are capital-efficient and regulator-ready.
  • Provide clear, data-driven operational insights to the Executive Committee and Board.


Customer & Broker Experience

  • Champion a premium, client-centric service model for HNW and UHNW clients.
  • Ensure operational processes support differentiated client and broker experience.
  • Partner with Distribution and Product teams to support growth and retention through service excellence.


Risk, Compliance & Regulatory Management

  • Maintain strong operational risk, CDD, AML, and governance frameworks in line with BMA and Group standards.
  • Lead regulatory reviews, audits, and remediation activities.
  • Ensure operational resilience and business continuity planning.


People Leadership

  • Build and lead high-performing operations teams across Bermuda and HNW businesses.
  • Develop leadership capability and succession pipelines.
  • Drive engagement, accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will bring deep operational leadership experience within insurance, reinsurance, wealth management, or similarly regulated financial services environments.

They will demonstrate credibility with senior leaders, regulators, and external stakeholders, combined with a strong execution mindset.

  • Senior operations leadership experience in regulated financial services
  • Strong understanding of HNW / UHNW business models and/or Bermuda-based insurance structures
  • Proven track record of operational transformation and process improvement
  • Strong governance, risk, and regulatory management capability
  • Excellent stakeholder management and people leadership skills
