M+ is a museum dedicated to collecting, exhibiting, and interpreting visual art, design and architecture, moving image, and Hong Kong visual culture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Located in Hong Kong’s WestK, we are one of the leading museums of modern and contemporary visual culture in the world. The museum reflects our unique time and place, building on Hong Kong’s historic balance of the local and the international to define a distinctive and innovative voice for Asia’s twenty-first century.

This is a fixed-term contract position of 2-year with possibility for renewal subject to organisational needs and individual performance.

You Will Be Responsible For

  • shaping M+’s online voice, determining message hierarchy and ensuring a consistent message across multiple digital touchpoints in Chinese (Traditional and Simplified);
  • crafting user-friendly content that provides a seamless experience across various M+ digital products, including the M+ website, social media, digital signage, and other visitor-facing digital products;
  • translating, editing, fact-checking and proofreading Chinese digital content;
  • help maintain website content calendar, media files and other content appearing online;
  • help maintain and update the M+ Chinese guidelines periodically with respect to grammar, clarity, accuracy, accessibility, and institutional style;
  • managing the procurement process to engage third-party translators, editors, and other service providers for various projects to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner, within budget and up to M+ standards;
  • contribute to big-picture strategies that will drive the long-term development of M+, a museum of visual culture based in Hong Kong with a global vision; and
  • performing any duties from time to time as reasonably as assigned by M+.

You Should

  • possess a recognised university degree or equivalent;
  • have 3 years of experience in digital journalism, digital media / communications, or digital content marketing;
  • have Cantonese and/or Putonghua native with excellent spoken and written English;
  • have excellent writing and editing skills in Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese, and experience in translating/localising/transcreating text from English to Chinese;
  • be conversant in Chinese-language digital product best practices;
  • be able to use appropriate phrasing with an understanding of the cultural nuances between Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese;
  • experience in publishing web content on CMS platforms;
  • highly organised, with strong attention to detail;
  • have strong people skills and be able to work well with a variety of personalities;
