Job Description
As a key person of Chubb Life Hong Kong (the “company”), the Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations and ensuring compliance with regulatory financial requirements and the company’s financial health. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in finance, exceptional analytical skills, the ability to present financial information to a variety of stakeholders, and a strong aptitude for providing insights and resolving financial issues to support informed decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Finance Operations & Treasury: oversee financial operations, i.e. accounts payable, account receivable, banking/treasury, and investment/seg fund management.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Oversee the financial reporting process for USGAAP, Local statutory and IFRS17, ensure the accuracy financial statements, and financial reports to management.
- Provide decision support and assist in development business strategies for the company.
- Finance Controls & Governance:
- Own the company accounting policies and ensure compliance with Chubb’s Group standard.
- Continuously enhance the internal control environment to mitigate operational, financial, and compliance risks.
- Oversee internal and external audits, including ongoing compliance with SOX-like processes and controls.
- Regulatory Compliance, Audit Management & Tax:
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and reporting standards relevant to the company, coordinate internal and external audit process.
- Lead the tax filings process and optimize tax position.
- Operating Efficiency: Continually develop and pursue best practices, identifying ways to improve finance operation and reporting efficiency through new tools, automation, and outsourcing.
- Accounting System & Transformation:
- Assess and oversee the development and implementation of financial systems, ensuring they meet business needs while maintaining strong governance and control standards.
- Manage changes to core financial systems (general ledger, administration systems, unit valuation, investment reporting), ensuring data integrity and reliability.
- Demonstrate a good understanding of policy administration systems and their impact on financial operations and reporting.
- Lead finance-driven transformation initiatives by collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance the quality of data fed into finance for accurate and timely reporting.
- Communication and Relationship Management: Effectively communicate financial insights and strategies to executive audiences, ensuring clear and impactful delivery of ideas. Facilitate sessions with senior executives to foster alignment and promote strategic initiatives.
- Team Management: Manage a team of 20+ members in key areas of Finance Operation, Financial Reporting, Investment Accounting, and Transformation.
Qualifications
- Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or related disciplines. Qualified accountant
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in insurance industry
- Thorough understanding of US GAAP, Local statutory and IFRS17 reporting
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial data to make business recommendations.
- Excellent communication skills, with demonstrated experience in presenting to and influencing senior management.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to see the big picture and dive deep into operational details as required.
