- Hong Kong office plays a strategic role in supporting international trading, overseas investment, business development, financing, M&A activities, and cross-border coordination.
Role Mission
- You will lead and coordinate the Hong Kong office’s commercial activities for advanced materials business, with a strong focus on contract management, trading support, pricing coordination, business development support, and cross-functional execution.
- This role will also have a secondary responsibility for office management, including office administration, HR coordination, and staff supervision.
- The successful candidate will work closely with the Investment Director and Commercial Director, while leading a small team and ensuring smooth commercial and office operations.
Role Summary
- This position is suited to a commercially astute professional who can take ownership of day-to-day commercial execution while also managing a small office environment.
- The role covers the full spectrum of managing commercial activities, including contract processing, documentation control, pricing and inventory-related coordination, reporting, trade financing support, market research, and M&A-related assistance.
- In addition, the role includes office management duties, staff coordination, and HR administration to ensure the Hong Kong office operates efficiently and professionally.
Job Description
- Lead and coordinate commercial activities across the Group’s advanced materials business.
- Lead the preparation, review, and processing of business contracts and trading documentation, including quotations, sales contracts, NDAs, LC documents, and shipping documents.
- Lead and manage pricing records, inventory-related information, and commercial data in relevant systems and spreadsheets.
- Review weekly and monthly reports covering sales, orders, pricing, inventory, and key commercial actions.
- Work with internal teams to support trade financing, business development, and M&A-related projects when required.
- Liaise with internal departments as well as external clients, service providers, and business partners.
- Support market research and compile company, competitor, and industry information for commercial planning and decision-making.
- Supervise a small team of 2-3 commercial officers and provide guidance, coordination, and support in daily work.
- Oversee the Hong Kong office’s daily administration and ensure a well-organised, efficient, and professional working environment.
- Manage office facilities, supplies, vendor relationships, and general operational matters.
- Handle HR-related administration, including onboarding and offboarding, staff records, and general people-related matters.
- Review and improve office policies, workflows, and administrative procedures to enhance efficiency and governance.
- Support ad hoc projects assigned by senior management.
Ideal Candidate
- University degree holder, preferably in Science, Engineering, Technology, Chemistry, Materials, Business, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in commercial operations, trading support, contract administration, or related functions.
- Experience in international trading, advanced materials, high technology, natural resources, bulk commodities, or mineral resources is highly preferred.
- Strong commercial sense and hands-on experience in contract processing, transaction support, or trading coordination.
- Experience managing a small team.
- Good understanding of trade financing, market research, and cross-functional commercial processes.
- Strong leadership, communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong command of English and Chinese, including Mandarin.
- Proactive, team-oriented, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
