Job Description

The Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) is a statutory body charged with the mandate to eliminate discrimination on the grounds of sex, marital status, pregnancy, breastfeeding, disability, family status and race, as well as to eliminate sexual harassment, breastfeeding harassment, and harassment and vilification on the grounds of disability and race. The EOC promotes equality of opportunities between men and women, between persons with and without a disability and irrespective of family status and race. It is the EOC’s vision to create a pluralistic and inclusive society free of discrimination where there is no barrier to equal opportunities. We are now looking for candidates who are passionate and committed to our mission and vision to apply for the following post in our Complaint Services Division.

Assistant Enquiry Services Officer

(Monthly salary fromHK$29,995 to HK$47,010, 18-month short-term contract)

The Duties

  • Provide enquiry services related to the anti-discrimination issues to the public as Duty Officer, including receiving walk-in enquirers and answering incoming calls;
  • Provide replies and advice to written enquiries;
  • Assist in the investigation of discrimination complaints by conducting inquiries, analysing information and preparing reports;
  • Maintain, compile and analyse statistics on complaints and enquiries;
  • Provide clerical and operational support to the Division; and
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned, including but not limited to internal transfer to other divisions within the EOC.

The Person

  • University graduate with 2 years’ or above full-time post-qualification working experience (Graduates with less work experience may be considered but with a remuneration package commensurates with the experience);
  • Preference may be given to candidates who have experience in law enforcement, regulatory affairs and/or public service complaint handling;
  • Legal qualification or knowledge an advantage;
  • Good command of both spoken and written Chinese and English;
  • Flexible and adaptive to changes;
  • Good interpersonal, analytical and communication skills;
  • Computer literacy in software applications; and
  • Motivated and committed to the EOC’s vision, mission and values.
