Position Title

R&D Director

Responsibilities

  • R&D Management
  • Lead the R&D and engineering advancement of sulfur-based flow battery technologies;
  • Manage research activities related to battery stacks, membranes, catalysts, electrolytes, and system integration;
  • Drive the translation of laboratory research into pilot-scale and commercial applications.
  • Technology Roadmap & Project Execution
  • Develop technology roadmaps and R&D plans for flow battery systems;
  • Organize technical reviews, milestone tracking, and project coordination;
  • Lead technical problem-solving and system performance optimization.
  • Engineering & Validation
  • Support engineering design and scale-up of battery stacks and energy storage systems;
  • Organize system testing, performance validation, and long-term reliability evaluation;
  • Support demonstration projects, commissioning, and field deployment activities.
  • Team Building & Cross-functional Collaboration
  • Build and mentor multidisciplinary R&D teams;
  • Coordinate collaboration across electrochemistry, mechanical, electrical, control, and system engineering teams;
  • Establish R&D procedures and technical documentation standards.
  • External Research Collaboration
  • Coordinate collaborations with universities, research institutes, and industry partners;
  • Support patent applications, publications, and government-funded research projects;
  • Participate in industry conferences, technical exchanges, and standardization activities.


Qualifications

Education

  • PhD degree required;
  • Background in electrochemistry, materials science, energy engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related disciplines.


Experience

  • Experience in energy storage, battery technologies, or renewable energy R&D;
  • Experience in flow batteries, fuel cells, or related electrochemical systems is preferred;
  • Experience in managing R&D teams and technical projects.


Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of energy storage systems, flow battery stacks, and related engineering technologies;
  • Strong multidisciplinary coordination and project management ability;
  • Ability to analyze technical problems and drive engineering solutions;
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in flow battery commercialization or industrialization;
  • Experience with MW-scale energy storage system development or deployment;
  • Patent, publication, or government research project experience;
  • Familiarity with IEC, UL, or related energy storage standards is preferred.
